## Description

The port at Dikson is set to grow while its airport stays exactly as small as it is: the new Yenisey coal terminal in the port area is expected to add around five million tonnes a year to Northern Sea Route traffic from 2026, none of which touches the runway. Dikson Airport (DKS/UODD), on the Kara Sea coast in the far north of Krasnoyarsk Krai, is among Russia's northernmost airfields and sees one scheduled operator, KrasAvia, roughly once a week to Norilsk (NSK). There is no freight terminal, no freighter handling and no customs post for international consignments; air cargo is limited to scarce belly space and to whatever Arctic weather and the polar night permit. Bulk volumes — coal from the Syradasayskoye field and crude from the Bukhta Sever terminal — move entirely by sea with icebreaker support. No road or rail link serves the settlement, so the hinterland is reachable only by sea and air. Genuine air freight for the region is routed via Norilsk (NSK) and the Krasnoyarsk (KJA) hub. Western sanctions have applied to Russian Arctic projects since 2022, which restricts participation and payment flows for European companies.
