## Description

Named after independence general Santiago Mariño and opened in 1975, PMV (ICAO: SVMG) is the main airport of Isla Margarita, Venezuela's Caribbean holiday island, sited at El Yaque near Porlamar and run by the state operator Bolivariana de Aeropuertos (BAER). The island holds Puerto Libre status – a duty-free regime built around tourism and discounted retail goods, and the defining logistics feature of the location. A runway of roughly 3,180 by 45 metres lets the airport handle large charter and scheduled jets; services are flown mainly by Venezuelan carriers such as Estelar, Avior and Aeropostal, supplemented by seasonal charters from Europe and Latin America.
