CATL and BMW have rewritten the freight case for Debrecen Airport (IATA: DEB, ICAO: LHDC): BMW has been building electric vehicles in series here since October 2025, and CATL's 221-hectare battery plant in the Southern Economic Zone is bringing cell production online in early 2026 after module assembly already delivered more than 120,000 battery modules. Hungary's second-busiest airport lies about five kilometres south of the city on the M35 motorway and states that it holds every required permit with cargo infrastructure complete; its first China freighter, a Boeing 757 carrying 30 tonnes of e-commerce goods, has already been handled. The XANGA Group opened a 23,000 m² logistics centre next to the airport in June 2025.
