## Description

A 2,550-metre runway, unusually long for a regional field and long enough for widebodies, is what makes Deauville-Normandie (IATA: DOL, ICAO: LFRG) at Saint-Gatien-des-Bois in Calvados useful to freight at all. The airport markets equine air freight as a business line of its own, with a screening station, a temporary transit area holding ten horse boxes and a loading ramp sized for Boeing 737 and Airbus A310 aircraft, moving roughly a hundred horses a year. Most are racehorses flown in from Ireland and England for the Deauville racing season and the yearling sales, plus broodmares and foals heading on to studs across Normandy.
