## Description

Retired airframes, not freight, are what move through Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (DMA/KDMA) some five miles south-east of downtown Tucson. The 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group operates the only storage and reclamation site for excess US military and government aircraft and aerospace vehicles — the Boneyard — where Arizona's dry desert air preserves several thousand airframes, including long lines of C-130s from the US services and NATO states.
