## Description

One terminal, seven gates, no split between domestic and international traffic and no night curfew: the infrastructure at David the Builder Kutaisi International (KUT/UGKO) at Kopitnari is built for point-to-point passengers, and that is what it carries. The airport handled 1,722,809 passengers on 5,078 flights in 2024, three per cent more than the year before, making it Georgia's second-busiest airport, with Wizz Air's low-cost base supplying most of the volume. No dedicated cargo terminal or regular freighter operation is confirmed at Kutaisi; whatever air freight arises travels as belly cargo on passenger services. Construction began in October 2024 to lift annual capacity from around two million to five million passengers. Commercial air cargo for western Georgia is therefore handled and cleared at Tbilisi (TBS), some 230 kilometres east, while the Black Sea ports of Poti — under 100 kilometres away — and Batumi absorb the container and bulk flows of the Middle Corridor. For forwarders, KUT is an accessible passenger station on the east-west highway, not a freight gateway.
