## Description

Unlike most entries of this size class, Datong Yungang (IATA: DAT, ICAO: ZBDT) is a full commercial airport: it serves the northern Chinese industrial city of Datong in Shanxi province and was upgraded to international status and renamed accordingly in 2024. The 2025 summer and autumn schedule carried twelve routes to sixteen cities, including first overseas services to Hong Kong, Ulaanbaatar, Moscow and Seoul, and more than 50,000 travellers had passed through the airport's border control point by mid-November 2025. Freight so far moves as belly cargo on passenger flights, running to a few tonnes per holiday period — about 23 tonnes over the May 2025 holidays — and no dedicated cargo terminal is on record. For volume air freight, forwarders use Beijing Capital (PEK) and Daxing (PKX) some 350 kilometres to the south-east, along with Taiyuan Wusu (TYN) and the Zhengzhou Xinzheng (CGO) cargo hub.
