## Description

Despite the name, Danilovo handles no freight: it is a Russian military airfield about 11 kilometres east of Yoshkar-Ola in the Mari El Republic, home to an independent helicopter squadron of the missile forces flying Mi-8 and Ka-226. There is no civil cargo handling, and occasional military transport movements (An-26, An-72, Il-76) are not a freight service. The region's civil passenger traffic uses Yoshkar-Ola Airport (JOK/UWKJ), while commercial air freight routes through Kazan (KZN), the main cargo gateway of the Middle Volga, roughly 150 kilometres south.
