## Description

Augusta's first airline passengers landed at Daniel Field (DNL/KDNL) in the 1920s, decades before Bush Field — today's Augusta Regional — took over the scheduled traffic. The in-town field sits about one nautical mile west of downtown and works two asphalt runways of roughly 1,220 and 1,140 metres, with Augusta Aviation as the resident FBO for fuel, hangarage and handling. Some fifty aircraft are based here, flying general aviation and business missions. Its location pays off once a year: during Masters week every square metre of apron fills with private aircraft that could not find space elsewhere. There is no scheduled service, no belly cargo, no freight terminal and no customs post, and the short runways rule out freighters in practice. Air cargo for the Augusta area is handled at Augusta Regional (AGS) some ten kilometres to the south, with Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL), about two and a half hours west by road, taking volume and intercontinental shipments.
