## Description

In the hedge-fund belt of Fairfield County, on the north-eastern edge of metropolitan New York, Danbury Municipal (DXR/KDXR) is an airport of corporate aviation rather than commerce in goods. Operating since 1930, it is a general-aviation reliever with around 53,500 movements a year across two intersecting runways, 8/26 and 17/35, and roughly 209 based aircraft including a dozen or so business jets and several flight schools. There is no airline service and therefore no belly cargo, no freight terminal and no customs post. Commercial air freight for the region moves through Bradley International (BDL) near Hartford, about 100 kilometres to the north-east, or Westchester County (HPN) some 50 kilometres to the south-west, with JFK and Newark (EWR) handling intercontinental consignments. Current airport investment is unglamorous groundwork: an updated master plan, pavement analysis, obstruction review of the runway 26 approach and an LPV procedure for runway 8. For forwarders, DXR matters as a destination for company flights, not as a cargo station.
