## Description

Some 25 km southeast of the Syrian capital, Damascus International Airport (DAM, ICAO OSDI) has served as the country's principal air gateway since the fall of the Assad government in late 2024, long the home base of state carrier Syrian Air and private operator Cham Wings. It returned to scheduled service in April 2026 when Syrian airspace reopened. The collapse of the April 2026 US-Iran ceasefire and renewed Iranian strikes on Gulf targets in early June 2026 partly reversed that recovery, prompting several carriers to pause Damascus routes again.
