## Description

Without air links, much of the upper Juruá valley would be cut off – which is exactly why Cruzeiro do Sul International Airport (IATA: CZS, ICAO: SBCZ) matters. Brazil's westernmost airport, in the Amazonian state of Acre, handled 74,432 passengers in 2025, up 87 percent, across 6,962 aircraft movements. VINCI Airports has held the 30-year concession since 2021, together with Rio Branco, and invested some 66 million reais in terminal, apron and runway-area upgrades. Medicine, food and consumer goods arrive as belly cargo on scheduled flights, with Azul Cargo Express running a base here that feeds shipments into the national network. The runway accommodates medium aircraft such as the Boeing 737, but there are no dedicated freighters and no integrator hub: air cargo stays belly-based and supply-driven. For larger consignments and more demanding customs work, Rio Branco (RBR) some 600 km to the east and Manaus (MAO) with its free-trade zone are the practical alternatives.
