## Description

CVT/EGBE marks a closed chapter: Coventry Airport in Baginton, just south of Coventry in the West Midlands, shut permanently on 11 June 2026, with scheduled flying having ended on 9 May 2026. The field had carried no scheduled passenger airlines since 2008 and latterly served general aviation, flight training and business flights. Its roughly 250-hectare site is being redeveloped as GreenPower Park, a battery gigafactory planned for 60 GWh of annual capacity. There were no dedicated freighter operations at the end; a DHL eCommerce parcel sorting centre opened nearby in 2025 (about 25,000 m²) but it is road-fed and handles no air cargo. Shippers in the Midlands now route air freight through East Midlands Airport (EMA), the UK's leading dedicated cargo hub (DHL, UPS, Royal Mail) about 70 km north, or Birmingham (BHX) some 30 km west. For forwarders, CVT is no longer a cargo option.
