## Description

Fish, tropical produce and everyday supplies for the rainforest make up most of what moves through Coronel FAP Francisco Secada Vignetta Airport (IATA: IQT, ICAO: SPQT), Peru's fourth-busiest airport with more than a million passengers a year and the only air access to Iquitos, the largest city on earth without a road connection. Aeropuertos del Perú (AdP) has held the concession since 2006; Swissport provides ground handling and Talma is also present. There is no specialised cargo terminal yet: freight travels in the bellies of scheduled Lima services and on light aircraft serving jungle settlements. That is set to change — Addendum No. 11, signed in November 2025 between the Peruvian state and AdP, underpins a modernisation package worth more than USD 600 million whose second stage, at USD 443 million, covers a new passenger terminal, a dedicated cargo terminal and a runway extension. The transport ministry expects the contract to be awarded in the third quarter of 2026, with construction starting in the fourth. Surface feeder traffic exists only on water, via the Amazon and its tributaries from Pucallpa or Yurimaguas, taking several days. For capacity or freighter services, forwarders work through Jorge Chávez in Lima (LIM), some 1,000 kilometres away, or Pucallpa (PCL), which has road links across the Andes.
