## Description

Some 4,720 tonnes of cargo moved through the AAP airport network in 2023, an 18 percent rise year-on-year, and Tacna handled roughly a quarter of it. Lying about five kilometres from the city and just 27 kilometres from the Chilean border, the airport thrives on cross-border trade with Arica. It does, however, lack a dedicated cargo warehouse or on-site customs: consignments are trucked to customs facilities beyond the perimeter. Ground handling is provided by operators including Swissport, and the airport has run under an Aeropuertos Andinos del Perú concession since 2011. Runway rehabilitation and a terminal expansion were completed in 2014. For forwarders, TCQ is a genuine but lean cargo point, tightly linked to road transport along the Pan-American Highway.
