## Description

Coimbatore's industrial belt — India's pump and motor capital, plus a dense textile and engineering cluster — generates the freight that moves through Coimbatore International Airport (CJB), Tamil Nadu's second-busiest airport after Chennai. In fiscal 2024/25 the airport handled around 12,139 tonnes of air cargo, up 36 percent year on year, with domestic traffic accounting for some 10,269 tonnes. Exports to the Middle East travel mostly as belly cargo on passenger flights, supplemented by occasional charters. Facilities include cold storage for perishables, X-ray screening and a bonded warehouse for customs-bound shipments. The Airports Authority of India is expanding the site in phases, adding a dedicated cargo terminal, more apron space and automated handling. For heavy international volumes, Chennai (MAA), some 500 kilometres east, remains the fallback.
