## Description

COE and KCOE identify Coeur d'Alene Airport - Pappy Boyington Field, a county-owned general-aviation field at Hayden, about 15 km northwest of Coeur d'Alene in northern Idaho. Despite the name it carries no scheduled passenger or freight service and has no cargo terminal; traffic consists of business jets, flight training and a seasonal US Forest Service air-tanker base. Two runways of roughly 2,255 and 1,645 metres accept larger turboprops and business jets, and since 20 July 2026 the control tower has been staffed daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. specifically to support tanker operations during the wildfire season. International private and corporate flights can be processed by US Customs and Border Protection on prior arrangement, but commercial air freight for the Inland Northwest clears through Spokane International (GEG) some 50 km west, where FedEx, UPS and Amazon Air operate, with Interstate 90 providing the road link. The field is named after Coeur d'Alene-born WWII ace Gregory Pappy Boyington.
