## Description

Ciudad de Catamayo Airport (IATA: LOH), in the Catamayo valley about 18 kilometres west of Loja, is the only airport serving Ecuador's Loja province and its roughly 511,000 inhabitants, and it operates in daylight hours only. Scheduled traffic consists of a handful of daily regional flights, chiefly to Quito and at times to Guayaquil, flown by carriers including Servicio Aéreo Regional; there is no documented dedicated cargo operation, cargo terminal or cold-chain capacity, so freight travels at most as belly cargo. Its freight relevance is therefore limited: the region's coffee, maize and other farm exports leave by truck on the Pan-American Highway, while air freight is handled at Guayaquil (GYE) and Quito (UIO), where Ecuadorian customs clearance also takes place.
