Prime parcels by day, yellow DHL tails by night: Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (IATA: CVG, ICAO: KCVG) moved around 1.7 million tonnes of cargo in 2024, sixth in North America and twelfth worldwide. DHL Express runs its Americas superhub here – one of just three global DHL hubs alongside Leipzig and Hong Kong – with 120 to 130 daily flight movements, 64 aircraft and about 3,800 staff sorting 60,000 pieces an hour. Since 13 July 2026 a new DHL freighter service links CVG with Bangkok, reinforcing the growing Southeast Asia–North America cargo corridor, and a 292-million-dollar expansion of DHL's maintenance hangars now allows two Boeing 777s to be serviced side by side. Amazon Air opened its largest air freight hub on the same airfield in 2021, a 1.5-billion-dollar campus; Atlas Air, ABX and Kalitta round out the freighter lineup. Despite the name, the airport sits in Hebron, Kentucky, across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio. Passenger traffic runs to roughly 9 million a year, with Allegiant and Delta prominent, and in 2026 Skytrax named CVG North America's best regional airport. The I-275 loop connects to the I-71/I-75 corridor, CSX and Norfolk Southern provide Class I rail, and Ohio River barges add a third mode. Few US airports have shifted their business model so decisively toward cargo – freight now drives much of CVG's growth.
