## Description

S7, Aeroflot, Yakutia, Aurora and IrAero make up the scheduled network at Chulman Airport (IATA NER, ICAO UELL), flying to Moscow, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Khabarovsk and Yakutsk and carrying belly freight alongside passengers. The airport lies 8 km north of Chulman and around 40 km north of the coal-mining town of Neryungri in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), and emerged from a full reconstruction between 2021 and 2023 with a 3.6 km concrete runway able to accept all common aircraft and helicopter types. A new terminal of roughly 9,000 square metres, designed for 300 passengers an hour, formed part of the same programme. No dedicated freight terminal, regular freighter service or permanent customs post is confirmed: coal from the Neryungri basin, mining equipment and heavy goods travel on the Amur-Yakutsk Mainline railway (AYaM) and the A360 Lena highway. The runway length also qualifies NER as a diversion and emergency landing field for cross-polar long-haul traffic, although that traffic has thinned considerably since airspace restrictions took effect. Forwarders should treat it as a regional feeder with belly capacity and route larger air freight volumes for southern Yakutia via Yakutsk (YKS) or Khabarovsk (KHV).
