Choloma in Honduras' Cortés department is a maquila town, full of textile and apparel plants inside free trade zones, yet its airfield plays no part in that trade: it is a plain airstrip with no terminal, no scheduled service, no cargo handling and no customs post, and no IATA or ICAO code. Exports move through San Pedro Sula airport (SAP) some 25 kilometres south, which does have cargo facilities and customs. Ocean freight goes through Puerto Cortés, Central America's leading container port on the Caribbean coast, only a short drive north.
