## Description

Few airports in Pakistan are as scenically dramatic — or as operationally demanding — as Chitral (CJL/OPCH), hemmed in by the Hindu Kush near Tirich Mir. Pakistan International Airlines links the valley to Islamabad with ATR turboprops, historically also to Peshawar, but flights are strictly weather-dependent, limited to daytime visual conditions and usually reduced to a handful of frequencies per week, with more added during the May-to-September tourist season. Satellite-based RNP-AR approach procedures were announced for 2026 at Chitral alongside Skardu and Gilgit, and should noticeably cut weather-related delays and cancellations.
