## Description

Around 150,000 passengers a year pass through Chita-Kadala (HTA/UIAA), the airport of Chita, capital of the Transbaikal region in eastern Siberia. A single runway serves roughly 13 destinations flown by about eight airlines, the busiest being Irkutsk (IKT), with the only international link reaching Hailar (HLD) in China. Air cargo moves only as belly load in passenger aircraft; there is no significant freight terminal. Heavy goods travel on the Trans-Siberian Railway, which runs through Chita and ties the region to western Russia and the Far East. For larger air-freight volumes, Irkutsk and Novosibirsk-Tolmachevo (OVB) are the relevant cargo gateways.
