## Description

Chenzhou calls itself China's home of non-ferrous metals and buys more than half of all mineral inputs imported into Hunan province, but that trade barely touches Chenzhou Beihu Airport (HCZ/ZGCZ). Opened on 16 September 2021 at Huatang in Beihu District with a 2,600-metre runway, the airport was designed for 550,000 passengers, 3,000 tonnes of cargo and mail and 7,300 movements by 2025, and reached a record of more than 400,000 passengers in 2023 on seven domestic rotations flown by six airlines to eleven destinations. No international services and no freighter operations are documented, so air freight here is belly cargo on domestic flights only. The region's import and export flows run instead through the Chenzhou land port, which has opened six through-bill-of-lading corridors from Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Myanmar and Cambodia in coordination with the south China seaports, backed by the city's comprehensive bonded zone and the Chenzhou area of the Hunan pilot free trade zone. Foreign trade reached 49.80 billion yuan in 2025, up 5.6 percent, with exports up 12.8 percent. Time-critical air cargo should be planned through Guangzhou Baiyun (CAN) and Shenzhen Bao'an (SZX) to the south or Changsha Huanghua (CSX) to the north, with a truck or high-speed rail leg into Chenzhou.
