## Description

Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group runs the Huangtianba airfield in Chengdu's Qingyang District as its flight test base, a role that goes back to the No. 432 aircraft repair factory established on the site in January 1957. There is no scheduled passenger service, no cargo handling and no IATA code, so the field has no place in a freight routing for Sichuan. Its one documented humanitarian use came after the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, when transport aircraft carrying relief supplies were handled here. Air freight to and from Chengdu runs through Chengdu Tianfu International (TFU), the city's international gateway since 2021 and the location of cargo handling, with Chengdu Shuangliu (CTU) covering domestic traffic. For less time-critical Europe-China shipments, the Qingbaijiang international rail port and the China-Europe block trains offer a considerably cheaper surface option. Customs clearance for the province takes place at the two commercial airports, not at this industrial airfield.
