On 11 January 2011, China's J-20 stealth fighter lifted off for its maiden flight from this runway: Huangtianba airfield in western Chengdu belongs to Chengdu Aircraft Corporation and serves as the factory's test and delivery strip for the J-10 and J-20 programmes. The site is closed to all civil traffic and carries no IATA code. Cargo services do not exist. Airfreight for the Chengdu metropolitan area is handled at Tianfu (TFU) and Shuangliu (CTU).
