Some 40 kilometres northeast of central Chengdu, in the new town of Huaizhou in Jintang County, lies an airfield that shippers should not confuse with a freight option: Huaizhou (HZU) is a general aviation facility, without scheduled airline or cargo operations. It forms the core of a general aviation industrial park of roughly 7.94 square kilometres, planned around maintenance, flight training and tourism flying rather than commercial transport. Chinese planning documents describe it as a complement to Chengdu's two commercial airports, Shuangliu (CTU) and Tianfu International (TFU), not a substitute for them, and no cargo terminal, customs post or freighter service is documented on site. Air freight for Sichuan is handled at Tianfu International, the city's international gateway since 2021, with Shuangliu covering domestic traffic. For Europe-China flows there is also a strong surface alternative: the international rail port at Qingbaijiang links Chengdu to the China-Europe block trains and undercuts air freight rates whenever transit time is not critical. Customs formalities for the province are completed in Chengdu itself, so plan clearance and consolidation there rather than at Jintang.
