## Description

A 2,050-metre runway, hangars from a disbanded air force base and a building programme running to the end of 2026 define Châteaudun (ICAO LFOC) in the Eure-et-Loir department of central France. The site served as Base aérienne 279 until the French Air Force closed it in 2014 and has belonged to the Grand Châteaudun local authority since October 2022, operated by the public company SPL Air Châteaudun under general director Benoît Vedel, appointed in December 2025. Modernisation work started in the second quarter of 2025 and targets maintenance and repair (MRO), business aviation, pilot training and aerospace tenants rather than freight. There is no cargo terminal, no scheduled service and no permanent customs post; the runway is available to business aircraft on a permission basis. Regional air freight therefore moves through Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) about 130 km to the north-east, with Tours Val de Loire (TUF) and Orléans as secondary options, all reached by road via the A10 and N10.
