## Description

An 850-metre runway and, on a normal day, a single flight: that is the whole operation at Changhai Dachangshandao Airport (CNI, ZYCH), opened in February 2008 on Dachangshan Island in the Yellow Sea. The only route links the island county with Dalian Zhoushuizi (DLC) some 50 kilometres away, flown by China Flying Dragon Aviation with small aircraft and supplemented by an extra rotation during holiday peaks. There is no cargo handling, no freighter traffic and no customs post — the runway length rules out freight aircraft in any case. The county's aquaculture output, above all sea cucumbers and scallops, therefore reaches the mainland by ferry and truck. Air freight for the Changshan archipelago is processed at Dalian Zhoushuizi (DLC), with Shenyang Taoxian (SHE) as the second choice for consignments moving inland.
