## Description

Poland's 44th Naval Aviation Base Kaszubsko-Darłowska operates Cewice/Siemirowice (ICAO EPCE) in Pomeranian Voivodeship, southwest of Lębork, as a purely military field within the Naval Aviation Brigade. The site covers roughly 900 hectares with a 2,500-metre runway and works in tandem with Darłowo: fixed-wing types such as the An-28 Bryza maritime patrol aircraft fly from Siemirowice, helicopters from Darłowo. No scheduled passenger flights, freight operators, handling agents or commercial customs office are present. In 2020 the military construction authority awarded Strabag a PLN 93 million contract to rebuild the runway, taxiways, aprons, drainage and airfield lighting, work linked to plans for a new maritime patrol aircraft; that replacement has yet to be procured. Northern Polish airfreight therefore routes via Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa (GDN), about 70 road kilometres east, while full freighter capacity is found at Warsaw (WAW) and Katowice (KTW). The Baltic ports of Gdynia and Gdańsk are within an hour by truck, so sea and road carry far more of the region's volume than air.
