## Description

Wartime pilot training gave Centralia its runways: opened in 1942 as RCAF Station Centralia under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, the field lost its military role in 1967 and its grounds became the Huron Industrial Park. Today YCE (ICAO CYCE) is a general-aviation aerodrome in Huron County, Ontario, with asphalt runways of 1,528 m and 1,339 m, the shorter 16/34 strip closed each year from 1 November to 31 March. No airline, freight carrier or handling agent operates here, and there is no cargo warehouse or customs post on site. Shippers in the area work instead through London International (YXU), some 40 km south, or Toronto Pearson (YYZ), roughly 230 road kilometres east, where clearance takes place. Road feeder service is the only practical link, with Highway 401, Ontario's main east-west corridor, about an hour away by truck.
