## Description

Set almost exactly at the geographic centre of Wisconsin between Wausau and Stevens Point, Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA/KCWA) is served by three mainline carriers – American, Delta and United – and by FedEx feeder flights rather than by freighters. Those feeder services link Mosinee with Madison and Milwaukee; there is no dedicated cargo terminal on site. United returns to CWA after a four-year absence: the Chicago O'Hare link, first planned for May 2026, was pushed to 25 October 2026 because of the FAA's summer 2026 capacity order at O'Hare. A new general aviation terminal has broken ground and is due for completion in December 2026. Marathon County ginseng, most of the American crop, leaves the region in containers by road and sea for Asia rather than through the airport. Larger air freight consolidates down Interstate 39 at Milwaukee (MKE, around 300 km) or through Minneapolis–St. Paul (MSP, some 350 km), where customs clearance is handled.
