## Description

A runway completed in 2010 that has never seen a scheduled flight: Central Mindanao Airport at M'lang, North Cotabato, remains a construction site, planned as the island's only inland field cleared for commercial service. The 1.8 km runway and terminal building were finished sixteen years ago, after which the project sat idle for nine years over missing paperwork transferring the land to the Department of Transportation. Work has resumed with a total budget of PHP 1.2 billion, a PHP 450 million provincial allocation and 39.2 hectares of additional land bought for more than PHP 100 million to realign the runway. There is no cargo handling of any kind – no freight terminal, no ground handler – and the airport carries no IATA code. Shippers across this maize, rubber and fruit growing part of Mindanao therefore use Davao (DVO, some 150 road km) or nearer Cotabato/Awang (CBO, a little over 100 km), where customs clearance actually happens. In March 2026 the provincial government was still promoting the airport alongside a planned agro-industrial park; no opening date has been confirmed.
