## Description

Cayana Airstrip (AAJ/SMCA) is a short unpaved strip in the rainforest of southern Suriname on the Gran Rio, built to feed the jungle lodges of the Awaradam area. Single-engine bush aircraft operated by Surinamese charter companies fly in, usually from Paramaribo Zorg en Hoop (ORG); there is no terminal, no cargo handling, no warehousing and no customs post, and freight is limited to supplies for the lodges. International air cargo for Suriname is handled at Johan Adolf Pengel International in Zanderij (PBM), the country's only airport with cargo facilities and customs clearance.
