Fewer than a handful of scheduled departures a day define Cavern City Air Terminal (CNM/KCNM), the municipal airport of Carlsbad in south-eastern New Mexico. Boutique Air operates the sole commercial route, a subsidised Essential Air Service link to Dallas/Fort Worth flown with small turboprops, which leaves virtually no usable belly capacity for freight. The field covers some 1,980 acres at 3,295 feet elevation, five nautical miles south-west of the central business district.
