## Description

Private jets parked beside a terminal built to look like an old sugar mill set the tone at La Romana: LRM is first and foremost a general-aviation and charter gateway for the Casa de Campo resort, not a freight field. Operated by a subsidiary of Central Romana Corporation, it has served the resort, its marina and the La Romana cruise port since opening in 2000. Its single terminal has four gates and handles roughly 700,000 passengers a year, with charter and private flights arriving from the United States, Canada, Latin America and Europe. After Spirit Airlines ceased service in May 2026, JetBlue (from New York-JFK), American Airlines (from Miami) and Frontier (from Orlando/Philadelphia) picked up part of the former US connectivity, alongside a substantial European charter market. The airport has no dedicated cargo terminal, no resident integrators and no scheduled freighter services. Shippers needing genuine air-cargo capacity should route through Las Américas (SDQ) near Santo Domingo, roughly 110 kilometres west and the country's main freight hub. Dutiable consignments are cleared there rather than at La Romana.
