## Description

Two asphalt runways of 1,530 and 1,150 metres, day and night operations, instrument approaches – and not a single scheduled flight: that is Caravelas Airport (CRQ/SBCV) on the southern coast of Bahia as of 2025. Since 16 August 2025 the field has been administered by the State of Bahia through its infrastructure secretariat Seinfra, having previously been run by the Concessionária São Francisco. Caravelas is best known as the springboard to Abrolhos Marine National Park, Brazil's first marine reserve, and to humpback whale watching between July and November, so charter, air taxi and tourism flying dominate. There is no cargo terminal, customs post or air cargo handling agent on site, which rules out any consignment being built up or cleared here. Air freight for the Extremo Sul region of Bahia therefore moves through Porto Seguro (BPS), around 200 kilometres north, and through Salvador (SSA), the state's main gateway with customs and cargo facilities. Final delivery runs by truck on the BR-101 highway and the coastal roads, so several hours of road leg must always be planned in.
