## Description

Caransebeş Airport (CSB/LRCS) in Romania's Caraş-Severin county is a privately owned former military field with no scheduled services and no freight handling. Sold to a private company in 2002, it changed hands again in 2019 and reopened to traffic in 2020; the operator and the authorities have since worked towards clearance for international traffic. Today the field, framed by the Banat highlands and the Ţarcu massif, serves general aviation, training and corporate flights. There is no cargo terminal, customs post or air cargo handling agent, so consignments can be neither built up nor cleared here. The nearest genuine cargo gateway is Timişoara "Traian Vuia" (TSR), roughly 90 kilometres north-west via the DN6 national road, with cargo handling and customs facilities; Arad (ARW) serves as a second Banat option. In practice, manufacturers around Reşiţa and Caransebeş book air freight out of Timişoara and truck it in on the DN6 and the A1 motorway, with a road leg of about ninety minutes.
