## Description

Talara is one of Peru's oldest oil towns, home to a long-established refinery on the Piura coast – yet its airport moves people, not petroleum cargo. Capitán FAP Víctor Montes Arias International (TYL/SPYL) recorded roughly 261,000 passengers in 2024, essentially all of them on LATAM's single route to Lima. The "International" in the name became more than a label in December 2025, when Peru's civil aviation authority DGAC issued Airport Operation and Services Certificate No. 010 after nine technical inspections, clearing the field to receive international flights; no scheduled cross-border service has been confirmed since.
