## Description

More agricultural gateway-in-waiting than finished cargo hub, Trujillo's TRU is northern Peru's busiest airport, about 9.5 km from the city near Huanchaco. La Libertad supplies much of the country's asparagus and blueberries, and a direct perishables service to New York and Miami is being assembled, with Swissport already handling perishables on the ground. The airport still lacks a dedicated cargo terminal and cold-chain facility, so most air freight currently clears through Lima's Jorge Chávez International (LIM). The field is named after Captain Carlos Martínez de Pinillos.
