## Description

Cananea National Airport (IATA: CNA, ICAO: MMCA) lies in northern Sonora close to the Arizona border, beside the Buenavista del Cobre copper mine, one of the world's largest copper deposits. Despite a runway of 1,800 by 28 metres and an apron of roughly 3,500 square metres, operations are limited to general aviation plus company and government flights; there is no scheduled service, no commercial cargo handling and no air-cargo customs post. Mining supplies arrive by road through the Naco and Nogales border crossings, while air freight is processed at Hermosillo (HMO), about 230 km to the south-west, or at Tucson (TUS) on the US side.
