## Description

Air offers speed where the Mekong Delta's roads and waterways fall short, and that is the niche Can Tho International (VCA) fills — on a modest scale. The airport handled roughly 7,800 tonnes of cargo in 2025, about a quarter above its own plan yet far below the capacity envisaged for its freight terminal. As the delta's only international airport, it concentrates on perishable exports: fruit, vegetables and seafood from the surrounding farming and aquaculture region. Almost all of it moves as belly cargo aboard Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways passenger services; no regular freighter operation is confirmed. Vietnam Airlines plans a logistics centre at the site to link the airport with Can Tho port and the new delta expressways for combined air-road-sea flows. With scheduled international flights currently absent, overseas consignments effectively route via Tan Son Nhat (SGN) some 170 km to the northeast, where customs clearance and consolidation take place.
