## Description

The code RTE belongs to Campo de Marte, São Paulo's first airfield and the focal point of Brazilian general and business aviation. Opened in 1919 in the Santana district, it handles one of Latin America's busiest helicopter operations alongside private jets, flight schools and government flights. Cargo, however, is not part of its remit — there is no freight terminal and no scheduled service. Forwarders moving goods through greater São Paulo route them instead to Guarulhos International (GRU) or Viracopos (VCP) near Campinas, which together handle the bulk of Brazil's air freight. Campo de Marte serves pilots and passengers, leaving tonnage to its larger neighbours.
