## Description

Egypt's air-freight industry is concentrated at Cairo (CAI/HECA), the continent's second-largest cargo airport after Johannesburg and the handler of roughly 15% of all African air cargo. The airport is the home base of EgyptAir and its freight arm EgyptAir Cargo, which flies three A330-200P2F and a converted B737-800SF, with two more A330 freighters due in early 2026. Adjacent Cairo Cargo City adds a modern import-export complex rated at about 290,000 tonnes a year. International carriers and integrators serve the route alongside EgyptAir, and Unilode has run full ULD management here since late 2024. Temperature-controlled areas and on-site customs support pharmaceutical and perishable supply chains. By road, CAI links via the Cairo Ring Road to corridors toward Alexandria, the Suez Canal and Upper Egypt. For forwarders it is the principal transhipment point between Africa, the Middle East and Europe, and Egypt's leading air-cargo address.
