## Description

Fought over during the 1944 Battle of Normandy, the airfield at Carpiquet is today Lower Normandy's main passenger airport rather than a freight point: Caen-Carpiquet Airport (IATA: CFR, ICAO: LFRK) handled a record 304,769 passengers in 2019. Air France serves Lyon, Volotea flies Marseille, Nice, Montpellier and Toulouse plus seasonal Corsica, and Chalair Aviation adds regional links such as Southampton.
