## Description

Cabo Frio Airport (IATA: CFB, ICAO: SBCB) in Rio de Janeiro state opened in 1998 and gained international status in 2001, built from the outset to supply the oil and gas platforms of the Campos Basin. It has one of Brazil's longest runways, able to take heavy freighters, a cargo terminal, and a dedicated terminal for Petrobras helicopter flights to the offshore fields. That makes Cabo Frio a logistics point for oil-industry freight bound for the Campos and Santos basins and for distribution centres in Rio de Janeiro state, alongside seasonal charter and holiday traffic to the Região dos Lagos. For general air freight and intercontinental shipments, Rio de Janeiro Galeão (GIG) about 150 km to the west and São Paulo Guarulhos (GRU) remain the larger options.
