## Description

For a full year Cà Mau has no flights at all: Vietnam's southernmost provincial airport (CAH/VVCM) closed on 30 October 2025 and is scheduled to reopen at the end of October 2026. The Airports Corporation of Vietnam is spending roughly VND 2,400 billion, about USD 92 million, on a new 2,400 by 45 metre concrete runway for A320/A321-class aircraft and a terminal sized for 500,000 passengers a year; until the closure a 1,500-metre strip limited the field to ATR 72 and E190 equipment on a single route to Ho Chi Minh City. No dedicated cargo terminal is planned even after the upgrade, so air freight will remain belly loads on passenger flights. The province's shrimp and seafood exports, the backbone of the local economy, already move by truck and barge to Ho Chi Minh City and the delta's river ports. Forwarders needing genuine airfreight capacity work through Tan Son Nhat (SGN), with Can Tho (VCA) in the central delta as the nearer alternative.
