## Description

Su-25 ground-attack jets of the 899th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment flew from Buturlinovka until the unit was disbanded in late 2009, and the field in Voronezh Oblast — about four kilometres south of the town — has been in purely military hands ever since. A runway repair brought the 47th Regiment in temporarily from 2013, and renewed military use followed from 2022; there is no IATA or ICAO code, no civil traffic and no commercial cargo acceptance. The obvious civil alternative is also unavailable: Voronezh International (VOZ) suspended passenger operations on 24 February 2022 and no confirmed reopening has been reported. Consignments for the region therefore route in practice through the Moscow airports Sheremetyevo (SVO), Domodedovo (DME) or Vnukovo (VKO), followed by roughly 600 kilometres of road feeder service. Before any planning, forwarders must clarify the applicable sanctions, export-control and insurance restrictions on Russian traffic, which rule out many commodity groups outright. Airspace and security conditions in this part of southwestern Russia need checking as well.
