Boulder City was founded in 1931 to house Hoover Dam workers, and its municipal airport (IATA BLD, ICAO KBVU) still trades on that landmark: with about 52,000 annual operations it ranks as Nevada's third-busiest airport, almost entirely on sightseeing traffic to the Grand Canyon, Lake Mead and the dam.
