## Description

At roughly 1,100 m above sea level and a short hop from the Algerian frontier, Bouarfa Airport (IATA UAR, ICAO GMFB) is one of the quietest fields in eastern Morocco, sitting about two kilometres southwest of the town and managed by the national airports authority ONDA. The Casablanca link once flown by Royal Air Maroc Express with ATR 72 equipment has been discontinued, so there is currently no regular scheduled or freight service; the runway sees occasional charter, government and medical flights serving a sparsely populated mining and desert zone. No cargo terminal and no customs facility operate here. Air cargo for the region is funnelled through Oujda Angads (OUD) some 250 road kilometres north, with larger and intercontinental consignments moving via Casablanca Mohammed V (CMN), the base of RAM Cargo. Bouarfa is remembered as a former manganese-mining centre and a staging point toward the Figuig oasis.
