## Description

Borj El Arab's dedicated freight terminal, sitting beside the passenger building, gives Alexandria a year-round air-cargo capacity of around 10,000 tonnes. Opened in 2010 some 60 km southwest of the city, the airport replaced the old in-town Nozha field and now anchors air traffic for Egypt's second city. Most freight moves as belly cargo aboard the roughly eleven carriers serving the airport, among them EgyptAir, Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, Air Arabia and FlyDubai, linking Gulf, Turkish and North African markets. Egyptian Customs clears shipments on site. The decisive advantage is proximity to the ports of Alexandria and El Dekheila, letting forwarders pair sea and air for time-critical textile and industrial goods. Heavier intercontinental loads are still consolidated through Cairo (CAI).
